Does Texas have a limit to the amount that insurance company’s have to pay for stolen items in your vehicle?
Recently had a truck stolen with about $1,000 worth of fishing equipment inside. I have full coverage auto insurance from USAA insurance and the rep told me that under Texas Laws the maximum that they would reimburse me was $250. Is there any fact to this.

No. But your policy might cap it at that amount. Read your policy.

Personal property is not usually covered under the auto policy. It sounds like your auto policy gives you a small amount of coverage - 250. That’s more than a lot of policies give. Most policies give 0 for personal property that is stolen from a vehicle.
Usually you have to file a claim against your homeowners or renters coverage for the personal property. Your homeowners deductible will apply. If you don’t have a renters or homeowners policy then you are out of luck.
In my state - you get 0 for personal property that is stolen from a vehicle. Your only source of recovery for personal property stolen from a car is a homeowners or renters policy.

No, there’s no state set limit. BUT, most policies have a limit.
Most AUTO policies don’t cover ANYTHING in your car that’s not built in to your car, factory. So, you must have a little enhancement endorsement adding coverage for $250 of your stuff. Under MY TX policy with State Farm, I wouldn’t get a dime.
The appropriate policy to file the claim under, is your homeowners or renters policy. That policy will cover your stuff anywhere, even in your truck.

Probably best to do some homework about your confusing area. Here is a great start point.

I suggest you visit a nearby auto insurance agent to help. Since I live in New Jersey I can’t recommend anyone in Texas, but here is an online resource that can help you.
