If you are currently employeed and insured for you and your dependants and wish to quit your job and start your own business and buy private insurance somewhere else, can an insurance deny your application or coverage due to a preexisting condition? I know they used to but Im not sure if that is true since the insurance portability law passed a few years ago. Does this law apply to quitting and seeking alternative insurance as long as you do not let your coverage lapse?

If someone has a life insurance policy that a beneficiary is not aware of, when they die is the insurance company required to make an effort to locate the beneficiary, or can they simply keep their mouths shut and hope nobody tries to collect?

Also, if a beneficiary is also deceased can the heirs of the beneficiary collect on the policy?

Are there any easy ways to find out if someone was covered by life insurance? My father-in-law died and all he left behind was a room full of paper dating back 30 years. He had a pension, not sure if that means anything.

My insurance company issued me a privacy policy. But it also says “…on rare occassions, we may be required to share this information; … If ordered by summons, court order, search warrant…”

I expect higher rates when its time to renew our policy. However, since my brother in law is not on our policy, does not reside in our house and the policyholders (my wife and I) didn’t have the accident, I am wondering if it would make sense to go to another insurance company.

I realize that other insurance companies ask for your former/current insurance company and sometimes the policy number but do you by law have to give it to them?

In other words, will I be able to get insurance rates that do not reflect this accident?

I work over 40 hours a week and Manager the swing shift. So I am considered management. The girls in the office and some of the others are recieveing insurance benefits When I had asked for insurance, The top dog said yes but I wil lhave to pay for it out of my own pocket the full premium. When the others don’t pay the company pays. Is this legal for me to be singled out?. The guys I manage don’t even get a choice for insurance.
