How may I find an attorney in Austin, Texas who represents Insurance Agents?
Filed Under Insurance Laws | 1 Comment
Is their an attorney who represents independent insurance agents in Austin, Texas? WE are having trouble locating an attorney that protects the rights and laws of an Insurance Agent. My husband and I work in the 403(b) market, assisting educators with their retirement. I would like to talk with an attorney and may need legal representation. We are victims of an individual agent and a TPA who have slandered us. As a result we have lost a huge portion of our business due to their unethical conduct. It will also harm us financially in the future. Their slanderous and immoral actions have blocked us continuing to do business.

How can politicians in Florida justify seatbelt laws while at the same time repealing helmet laws?
Filed Under Insurance Laws | 3 Comments
IMO, this is one of the most blatant examples of special interest. We have seatbelt laws because the insurance company lobbied for them, and they essential repealed helmet laws because they stand to gain a lot of money from huge biker gatherings.
In fact, are seatbelt laws even constitutional? How exactly does me not wearing a seatbelt infringe on someone else’s rights, short of me flying through the windshield and hitting them that is? I’m sure they argue it lowers insurance rates, yet traffic related casualties have remained pretty steady over the last 5 years, proving that the seatbelt laws aren’t really helping save lives.
BTW, I wear my seatbelt and have done so way before Big Brother told me I had to.
Christine - I couldn’t agree more. Government should strive to protect those who can’t protect themselves, such as children.

Vector - I agree seatbelts make sense, but why do we need to government to mandate it? There are many more things they could mandate that would have a more significant impact on public safety, yet they choose to ignore those (consider the fact that no one has proposed lowering the speed limit).

Does California state law not allow insurance companies to increase rates for $750 or less claims?

I heard California Sate law prohibits insurance companies from raising your rates if you have a total accident claim of $750 (not to include deductible amount)? Is this true?
